Ubuntu : Add read only user permission to rolling log file

by Paddy Mahadeva   Last Updated April 16, 2018 12:00 PM

I have a log file to which an application server keeps writing logs, application.log.

I need to give developers the right to read this log file. I did the same by changing permissions using chmod. But the log file is archived when it crossed 1GB and a new log file is created.

Now the access of read only users is reset. How do I overcome this, and ensure that everytime a the new file is created the read only users have read access!
