How to Resolve GRUB Error -Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported?

by RussellJ   Last Updated May 22, 2020 23:02 PM - source

Unable to update from 14.04.06LTS using “Software Updater”, I downloaded 20.04LTS to a USB drive, which I then used to boot a Dell Inspiron 15-3552 bought pre-loaded with Linux / Ubuntu. Installation was a success but starting the laptop afterwards I am presented with EITHER the message “No hard drive installed” OR the error message below. Holding F12 on start-up allows me to select "hard drive" and the laptop fires up with a fully operational installation of 20.04LTS. I'm not technical, just an end user. Thanks for advice on how to resolve.

GNU Grub version 2.02~beta2-9ubuntu1.17
