How can I tell if a laptop's touchpad can be disabled before buying it?

It's annoying that my laptop's touchpad continues to function even when I have a mouse connected, and even more annoying that it doesn't seem possible to disable, at least without some complex 3rd-party driver or program (the touchpad doesn't register as a "device", it doesn't have settings, etc).

The next time I buy a laptop I'm specifically looking to avoid this. How can I tell if the laptop supports the touchpad being disabled before buying it? I'm intending to buy it online, so I can't just test it in-store.

there should be an icon for it at the top where you would see the keys EXAMPLE: F5 F6 etc.. you will see something like a mouse or touch pad physically drawn on the key itself representing some kind of mouse disabling key. Its fairly easy, besides even if you didn't know, just ask the the salesman, its simple to be able to tell if it can be disabled.
