How can I change the console password-entry timeout on Linux?

Similar but different from Change password timeout on Linux?, I'd like to lengthen the password timeout during console login.

The problem is that I have an insanely long, random, root password and when I connect via IPMI console, I can't type the whole thing before the login prompt times-out and asks for the password again. (I also can't copy/paste via the IPMI console, so I have to transcribe it each time.)

I checked in /etc/login.defs and found this setting:

# Max time in seconds for login
LOGIN_TIMEOUT 60

Is that the right setting to change? Is there another setting for PAM, etc.? Once I change that setting (if it is correct), which service(s) do I need to restart, if any, to pick-up this change?
